Design Awards 2003 The Students' Union building at Cambridge Junction won the Society's Best New Building award with the former Park Keeper's Lodge in Victoria Park winning the prize for Best Restoration. Autumn Lecture Series The future of the City's museums, The Tricorn and Portsmouth & Southsea in Bloom feature in the Portsmouth Society's Autumn Lecture Series. The Vulcan decision Whilst we are pleased that the southern wing of the Vulcan building at Gunwharf will house the Aspex Gallery, were very disappointed that the upper floors will be lost to public view forever. Solent Architecture Centre A new architecture centre will be created to support the raising of standards of good design. The Tricorn City finances will be used to demolish the Tricorn yet there is no need to spend enormous sums when the structure could be refurbished as part of the City Centre North development. Cosham Tram Shelter - Help Please! The Grade II listed tram shelter has recently been removed from Cosham Compound for refurbishment. Information on the structure is scarce - can you help? The University's Milton Campus The planning brief for the redevelopment has been altered to include provision for a new special needs school. We are unhappy at the loss of many of the existing buildings and trees. Waterworks visit Roger James reports on the Environment Forum's visit to Portsmouth Water's treatment works.
