You may have heard of our modest success in getting the Secretary of State to "List" as Grade II the WWII Defences right along Eastney Beach near the former Fraser Range. We are now arranging to have two suitably illustrated signs placed at each end of the monument and the Portsmouth News did carry a short article about this which may be read here . We are now seeking funds to help with this project so that not all the burden should fall on council taxpayers. The Chair for this fund-raising is Councillor Mrs Terry Hall, last year's Lord Mayor of Portsmouth. Of the £1200 we are seeking, the fund has now reached a little over £700. Should you wish to make a donation to the appeal the please send a cheque payable to Eastney Beach Signage, to Eastney Beach Signage Campaign, PO Box 551, Portsmouth PO5 1ZN; pay direct at Nationwide, with sort code 070093, account reference 0373/704236700; or pay at another bank adding Nationwide identity account number 33333334. |
